Deer Season Is Hitting Its Stride

California deer seasons are swinging into full speed after a July opener (A-zone archery). With most of the remainder of the states general access hunts either already underway (A-zone rifle, B and D zone archery) or waiting in the wings, JHO hunters have already made their mark on the deer population.
Utah and Colorado have also opened archery seasons, and hunters are hot on the trail of our four-footed quarry. Fine bucks have been reported, and many western JHO hunters are still out there in the game.
Across the continent, South Carolinians have already started slinging arrows and a few bullets, and the rest of the Southeast is about to join the fray...followed shortly as October draws near, by the rest of the country.
The JHO forums have been buzzing with excitement, as hunters discuss their plans and provide scouting reports from their own honey-holes. Check in, and post up your own success!
Fort Hunter Liggett JHO's XDHunter took this nice forkie...his second on public land! Considering the success rate is way below 10%, this is quite an accomplishment. |
6PointBull's buck Another nice CA blacktail taken on public land. |
Keef's Utah buck Another fine Mule Deer buck, taken in Utah's archery season. |
