Three years ago I was looking for a nice little short-range backpack that would find a place between my low-volume day packs and my larger long-range back packs. That's when I came across the Cabela's Scent-LokŪ Predator Top-Load Pack. This well thought out pack not only provides enough cubic inches of storage space, but offers all the features the demanding sportsmen and women look for in top quality gear.
From product specific storage pockets for spotting scopes, water bladders and personal items, to the most comfortable back support and straps I've felt yet, this little pack will make a 25 pound load feel like 10. Other features include:
- Scent-Lok lining,
- Hydration system pocket and connectors
- Nylex water proof lining
- Quiet external shell in Advantage or Mossy Oak Break-Up camo
- Storable blaze orange panel
- Padded spotting scope pocket
- Belt webbing for accessories - like guns and knives
- Gripsion patches on shoulder straps - to prevent rifle sling slippage
- Ample compression straps and storage options
Pros
The pros are numerous. At the top of the list, this pack fits great, performs well and is a joy to hunt with.
Cons:
Although this pack is a top quality product, I tend to be a little hard on gear. What I've found over the past couple years is that the outer shell (a soft fleece-like fabric) seems to tear easily at some of the sewn seems. Specifically where the Gripsion patches are sewn onto the shoulder straps and where the shoulder straps ride on the back of your neck. The material has separated and I've had to re-sew these areas.
Summary:
Other than the outer material not being as rugged as some of the Cordura products out there, and me wishing my larger packs fit this well, this one I both enjoy and recommend.
