Practice shots The author warms up in preparation for competing at the NFAA 2006 World Archery Trade Show in Las Vegas. |
The National Field Archery Association (NFAA) will be presenting the 2006 World Archery Festival in Las Vegas, February 11-13th. The tournament boasts the largest purse ever for an indoor archery tournament. A $35,000.00 purse is going to the Men’s Unlimited Championship Division alone. The total expected payout this year is estimated at $165,000.00. The shoot consists of the traditional 3-spot, 18-meter “Vegas round” that has brought this tournament to legendary status across the United States. For more information go to: http://www.nfaa-archery.org/tournaments/vegas/index.cfm
The "World Archery Festival Trade Show” claims they will have more archery products than you will find anywhere. This is a grand opportunity to learn about all the newest equipment throughout the archery industry. Admission to the event will be included with the registration fee for the 3-spot "Vegas Round". Additional admission badges may be purchased in advance for $3.00 each, valid for all three days. Entry badges purchased at the door are $5.00.
Some of the sponsors for this year’s event are, BCY Fibers, Beman USA, Easton Technical Products, Electronic Awards, Gordon Composites, Hoyt USA, Maple Leaf Press, Mathews, McKenzie Targets, Morrell Targets, Reflex, Tomorrow's Resources-Tru Ball, and Sims Vibration Laboratory.
I plan on attending the Vegas Championship and Trade Show this year and have been practicing locally. At this time of year many archery pro-shops across the United States host practice Vegas style leagues to help prepare archers for the tournament. If things go as planned I can focus on the shoot rather than the pressure, and perform within my average. When I return from Vegas I look forward to sharing my experiences with you in the next JHO Journal.
