The arrival of spring always puts a big sparkle in most fishermen’s eyes, but it also brings the hot weather and the birth of insects by the thousands. Any fisherman knows that in the predawn hours as your launching the boat, thousands of mosquitoes are licking their chops and waiting to make a landing on you.

Well I recently had the pleasure of using a Thermacell Mosquito Repellent and actually didn't lose any precious body fluids. Thermacell is a small device that is fueled by a small butane cartridge and contains an insect repellent mat. The device is lit by an electronic ignitor, much like a barbeque grill. Once lit it produces heat across the mat and repels mosquitoes up to 225 square feet around it.
If used with the custom made belt pouch it is sure to keep those biting bugs at bay until you can get under way and get some breeze blowing in your face. Once you’re fishing, fire it up again and enjoy insect free angling while you search for those lunkers.
This is one must-have product for night time cat-fisherman, because, as we all know, “the ‘skeeters will tote you away!"
Refill packages are readily available, and include a butane cylinder and three mats in one package. Most refills last up to ten hours. Replacement of both the mats and the butane is a quick process, and requires no special tools.
