anybody seen any stats from last year on the affect crossbows had on the season, safety, harvest results, others? I was at a local hunt shop at the beginning of last year and saw several people buying crossbows, having not a clue about what they had just purchased. I was a little concerned about what safety would be like last year. to my suprise I have not seen any stats, good or bad. hey jim, is the little brain mean u r a little slow, or is it that there is not any need to think about anything except hunting? why waste the space. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stimpy--sm-ani.gif season is moving a little slow for me right now, hope it picks up. c ya!

LTIW,

I have not seen full fledge stats on crossbow hunters either (they were not kept separate from normal bow stats). Although I can tell you the scary dreams most hunters around GA were having prior to crossbows being made legal have turned out to be just that...dreams.

It seemed the large majority of crossbow hunters actually took their weapon of choice seriously and learned how to use them. I checked with a friend at the DNR and we did not have a higher instance of accidents or reported mortality last year than prevoius years.

This is a good thing. As long as folks decide to learn how to use their weapon, it can only help get more people in the woods.
