Massachusetts Ave. NW, 3400 block, Aug. 5. Secret Service agents called animal control from the vice president's residence after a deer impaled itself on two wrought-iron spears while attempting to jump over the 8- to 10-foot-high barrier. An officer tranquilized the severely injured deer, then euthanized it. Agents helped to remove the carcass.
