View Full Version : Muzzle Loader problem

Okay, heres the deal I was cleaning my muzzle loader and I didnt have any patches left so I tore a small piece of cloth to use instead, I ran the rod down the barrell and when I went to pull it out, the end came off! the little piece that holds the patch is made of plastic that screws into the rod which is metal, the way I figure, the plastic piece is stripped, so my problem is I have a piece of cloth stuck in the end of my barrell and I have no idea how to get it out!!! Are there any solutions from anyone or should I just head to the gunsmith?

I would try removeing the nipple, and pouring in a little powder. then ram it down tight like it was a bullit, replace nipple, put a cap on & shoot it out.

Brother Wolf, try a ball remover. Just screw it down until it gets a good grip. A patch worm might work too, although I'd go with the ball remover first.

And when you get it out.... never buy cleaning parts made of plastic again!

I had the same thing happen but with a brass jag and at the bottom of the bore , Like MrRee suggested I shot it out .I just removed the nipple and manage to get about 10 grains of powder in there and out it went .
It was in my thompson renegade and I didnt want to try to pull the breech plug.
