Hi Folks,
Just a couple late pics of this past season's bird I shot while out with my son this year. We hunted in Stevens County, WA. We were headed back home after our last morning hunt when I saw 5 hens off to the left side of the road, down in a creek bottom. I jumped out and glassed them to confirm no boys in the bunch. They got nervous and moved off into the timber. So, for grins I hen yelped with my voice (imaging how bad that must have sounded) when across the other side of the road, and up the hill came a quick and stout gobble! My eyes must have looked like golf balls. I just quickly ran to the truck, grabbed the shotgun, and the calls, and told my hunting partner, "drive up the road 200 yards and stop!" After crawling up the bank and going back and forth with this bird for about 3 minutes, he popped his head above the grass and I dropped the hammer.

Young bird after the close encounters with big toms we had through the 2 1/2 days we were there. I know I've posted this before, but that jake was a few pounds larger than the 10 1/2" tom my partner shot the day before.

It's chicken or feathers. That day it was chicken.
