RGS to hold fundraiser dinner in Roanoke


Proceeds used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat

The Virginia Mountains Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will hold its 20th Annual Sportsmenís Banquet on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Roanoke Plaza Hotel (formerly Wyndam), 2801 Hershberger Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia beginning with cocktails at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m.

As has been the practice at this fundraiser, the event will feature a live and silent auction, games, drawings and door prizes; highlighted with the finest selection of quality firearms, artwork and collectableís.

According to Brandon Harper, tickets are $30 for RGS members, $30 for a memberís spouse, $40 for youngsters under age 16 and $55 for new or renewing members, the latter two including a one year RGS membership. Banquet, Conservation and Sustaining sponsorship packages are also available at $275, $500 and $1,000 respectively.
And, continuing in the spirit of the outdoors, youngsters under the age of 16 who recently took and passed a hunter education course and/or women who have participated in a recent Outdoors Women program, and can verify same, will receive a complimentary dinner ticket when accompanied by a paying adult

Banquet tickets can also be purchased on line through the RGS website up until two weeks of the event. Just go to www.ruffedgrousesociety.org (http://www.ruffedgrousesociety.org/), click on Select State in the Migration Mapping & State Information box in the right panel of the home page. Choose a state; than under Upcoming State Events, click on the event of interest and you will be linked to a display of all important event details, including the ticket chairmanís contact information.

As with all RGS fundraisers, proceeds from this event will be used to restore and protect grouse and woodcock habitat.
