Wal-Mart Simi Valley has a special on Savage 110 30-06 synthetic with a 3-9x scope for $299. A great deal.

Sounds like a great deal. The barrel and action have to worth that much. I doubt the scope is all that great but for that price, what the hell

I bought My 270 like that. It was 329.99. Blued on synthetic with simmon's 3x9. Don't have any complaints. I hunted with that same scope for a couple of years. It was right on the money. It stayed that way too. I did buy a new 4x16x50 simmons. Great gun the triggers are a little stiff. I think the pull was 8#'s I think He got it to 3 or so now. I LOVE IT. My dad bought a adl 700 in 30/06. Mine is just as good. But the trigger on the remington is sweet. But 299 with a scope can't beat that huh ?

I too saw the Savage for sale at Wally-World (Charleston, SC) was wondering how hard it would be to replace synthetic stock with wood.. Would rather have wood stock just wondering about cost -- if its worth it to replace.

Hey JohnsIsland...

I went the other way with my 110, and replaced the wood with a composite stock. ###I got the Bell and Carlson for less than $150, and it made a big difference in the recoil of the rifle (those Savage factory wood stocks are a little straight for my shoulder...ouch). ###

You can buy wood stocks for the 110 pretty cheap from Cabelas. ###You'll probably need to do a little rasping to make it fit the action well, but the 110 is a common gun, so the factory fit is usually real close.

Just wondering, down there in that heat and humidity, why would you prefer to go to wood? ###

I'm with Speckmisser on this. I replaced my wood with ramline syn. liked it a lot better. Much better hunting in bad weather. The triggers have some adj. to them if you take to a gunsmith he can lighten up some. the factory guns come with a pretty stiff trigger pull. Very accurate guns for reasonable $

The weight of wood stock has never bothered me. I have just never liked the "feel" of the synth stock in my hands.*shrug* Alot of the guys at the hunt club have tried to convience me to go to synth. ###I just have always preffered wood. nothing more to it than that. As for the heat and Humidity.. Just another day of life here in Charleston.

I was just at the Walmart in Cerritos on Saturday, and they only had one Model 70 in .30-06 and a Marlin 336 in .30-30, along with three or four shotguns and one .22 Savage. ### I sure hope they're not getting out of the gun business...

$250 for a 710?
You got a deal, I just called several Wally Worlds in my area and they all had the 710's for $350. They must have priced your's wrong.

mxnut... now that you said $350 tjat price may be right (OLD AGE) But I waw out with it yesterday and it is one sweet firing little gun. Very accurate and a nice trigger. The only thing I can find wrong is the bolt action is not real smooth, they used inserts in stead of find machine work, but for 1 shot bolt weapon it
works fine. Sorry if I miss lead any one, but I may have got it for $259, who knows. Not me for sure.

I haven't figured out Walmart's pricing on guns yet. ###I've got 3 stores within 15 miles of me. ###One has a 110 package in 30-06 on clearance for $225. ###This store also had a 7mm and a .270 that had already been sold for the same price. ###Another has a 110 in .243 on sale for $299. ###The other has the .243 priced at $368! ###These are all the package deals w/ scope and synthetic stock. ###I almost bought the 30-06, but I'm in the market for a .243. ###I think I'm going to go back to the store that had it for 299 and but it. ###My luck, it will have just been sold yesterday though.

Walmart has some good deals on guns, but they aren't very consistent on their pricing.

I bought a Sentry gun safe at the Pomona (Ca.) Walmart. ###It was marked down from $399. to $290.00. ###The sporting goods manager gave me the impression that they were sort of free to discount and move items that weren't moving or were going to be replaced with new stock. He showed me some items and said "if they don't sell this weekend I'll mark them down again, come by next week and check". ###

I ended up buying the gun for 299. ###The funny thing was that they had the exact same gun on the stock self in the back. ###It rang up for 368. ###They wouldn't sell me it for the lower price:nope-blue:. ###I guess that's the difference between the old stock and new stock.

You can definitely get some bargins on hunting supplies if you check back regularly after hunting season is over. ###I've bought a few things for about 1/2 price when they're trying to make room for ball gloves, golf clubs and coolers.

I am doing my taxes and came across the receipt fot the 710 at mal-mart and I paid $ 259 with scope.
Must have got a hell of a deal. I've called both wal-amrts in the area and both want aroumd $350. I bought this gun in Galveston when I was down there for the weekend and it took most of the day for the back ground check and 3 trips to the store , you would think thst someone would have notice the price.
I am temptred to call and try to get the 30 06 for the same price.

I believe the new 110 has a bottom loaded magazine and thats why they are clearing out the old model. After my gunsmith worked the trigger this tackdriver really shoots nice. I'll be trying it out this weekend on hogs at Tejon ranch.

I just bought the Savage 110 .270 combo at Wal-Mart in Visalia and it rang up at $200. I thought it was a mistake too but even the manager said it was right. I was told by the clerk that any clearance gun will be dramatically reduced to make room for new stock. You just have to ask what is on clearance because they don't advertise it.
